Editing Your Domain Name

Your Helcim Account provides you with a fully-hosted ecommerce store, including a secure SSL certificate.

To edit the domain settings for your online store, click on Online Store and Domain Name.

To edit your Domain Name Settings, your online store needs to be active. You can check the settings of your store under Store Settings and General in the Online Store section of your account. Ensure the radio button for Website Active is toggled On.

Once your online store is active, you can choose between two different hosting modes on the Domain Name Hosting screen.

Default Subdomain

The first hosting mode is Default Subdomain, this is the domain that Helcim creates for you. The domain name will be displayed below for your reference.

Domain Name Hosting

If you have an existing domain that you would like to use, or if you have a custom domain name, simply select Domain Name Hosting from the drop-down menu to enter your custom domain. Then, under the Your Domain Name text box, enter the domain you want to use. Click Save to apply your changes.

For more instructions, please read our step-by-step tutorial after completing the steps above.

Is your domain registrar not one of the companies listed above? Simply give your chosen registrar a call and ask them how you can change your domain's nameservers to:

Do not enter https as part of your domain. You will need to wait at least 24 hours after completing these steps for the switch to be completed. That is the minimum amount of time it takes to switch DNS servers and get SSL certificates for your website.

Updating Your Domain’s Nameservers

  • Log in to your Helcim account
  • Click on Online Store
  • Select Domain Name
  • Under Hosting Mode, use the drop-down menu to select Domain Name Hosting
  • Enter your Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN), such as "" (do not enter https://)
  • Press Save in the top right-hand corner of your screen

Helcim's webhosting servers will update within 1-3 hours with your domain name and SSL certificate. You will receive an email notification once the domain name is ready to be used. You will then be able to visit your domain name and access your new Online Store, powered by Helcim.

Please note that if you are using your domain name for additional DNS records, such as email hosting, you will need to update your DNS records using the Advanced Options and DNS Record under the Online Store Meny tool to point these services to your existing providers.

If you want to reset your domain name to the original domain, click the Reset button in the top right-hand corner of your screen.

Changing Your MX Settings

It will take up to 3 hours for a domain name to update.

Redirecting your DNS may cause an issue with your email address. If you are using a third-party email provider, you need to add the MX(email)records to the DNS setting.

To help resolve the issue, you may need to look at the DNS history of your domain name:

To edit these settings, log in to your Helcim account and click on Online Store, Advanced Settings and DNS Record

Add each of the DNS entries listed
